St. Vincent and the GrenadinesOctober 12, 2006 On Wednesday October 12, 2006 the Universal Peace Federation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines hosted a Grand Welcome Banquet in honour of Mr. Shin Bok Hong and the third World Peace Tour of True Family. Sixty persons attended the banquet which was held at the Sunset Shores Hotel in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at 7:30 p.m. The guests were greeted by the playing of a CD of sacred music by a Korean concert pianist, after which a video entitled “Man of Peace,” a synopsis of Rev. and Mrs. Moon’s work towards creating world peace, was viewed by the guests. Following opening remarks by the chairperson Mrs. Kay Bacchus-Browne, a prominent attorney on the island, and a stirring opening prayer by Dawn Bacchus-Horan, a Caribbean fashion designer, our special guest was warmly welcomed by Mr. Parnell Campbell, former Attorney General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the current chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Dinner was then served. Following dinner everyone participated in the holy wine ceremony subsequent to the viewing of the most current Universal Peace Federation video. Mr. Hong presented the keynote address by reading a speech entitled “God’s ideal Family and the Kingdom of the Peaceful Ideal World,” written by his grandfather, Mr. Sun Myung Moon for their 3rd World Tour. St Vincent and the Grenadines is the 28th country in which Mr. Hong presented this speech. At the conclusion of the speech the audience responded with a spontaneous applause. Mr. Hong next presented certificates to five new Ambassadors for Peace, bringing the total number of Ambassadors for Peace in St Vincent and the Grenadines to 80. Three bouquets were presented, one to Mr. Hong, one to the former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and a current parliamentarian Mr. Arnhim Eustace, and one to Mr. Parnel Campbell. The gathering was entertained by the singing of a duet “How Great Thou Art” by Kay Bacchus-Browne and Ms. Réchanne Browne, also attorney on the island. This was followed by a beautiful rendition of the Lord’s Prayer by Mr. Katsuyoshi Watanabe from Japan. Universal Peace Federation was ably supported by four Japanese women – Yuriko Matsubara, Yukie Takeoka, Yoko Suzuki, Sachiko Yamada – as well as Mr. Watanabe. The evening ended with a prayer by Rev. Errol Fergus, the leader of the local Bible Missionary Church, who also is an Ambassador for Peace. So impressed were Rev. Fergus and his assistant Pastor Owen Daniel that they accepted our invitation to come to their church in San Souci next evening, and Dawn Bacchus-Horan gave a power point presentation about UPF to 25 people. Mr. also travelled to the vibrant village of Cedars, where he delivered the speech “God’s ideal family and the kingdom of the peaceful ideal world” to an attentive audience at the Freedom Hall Church of God.    |
